ARTISTIC JOURNEY
Annick Bouvattier was born in Nevers. Her father, a pediatrician and art enthusiast, passed on to her a love for art and painting from a very young age.
With a scientific baccalaureate in hand, she abandoned the family tradition of studying medicine to enroll at the "Berçot - Marie Rucki" fashion school, where she received training as a fashion designer for two years. Her creations, showcased in Paris and at the Villa Medici in Rome, gained professional acclaim and were featured in specialized publications.
However, more attracted to show fashion than to boutique fashion, she quickly shifted her focus to cinema and advertising. As a costume designer, she often worked in the Cinecittà studios in Rome. From her Italian stays, she retained a taste for warm, sensual, and deep colors: sunny ochres, muted reds, intense blues, and deep greens.
In the mid-1990s, on her husband's advice and with his support, she decided to devote herself exclusively to painting. After two years of self-taught exploration, she became a student of Pierre Ramel for four years, a disciple and assistant of Edouard Mac-Avoy, president of the Salon d'Automne. He taught her the technique of oil painting with a palette knife, which she worked with a smooth application, without thickness, emphasizing transparency.
Annick Bouvattier primarily paints painting of modern women, using intricate plays of light and shadow. These women embrace their femininity without false modesty, remaining indifferent to outside gazes.
